Volunteering for our group is way for stay at home caregivers to fill a resume gap, working caregivers to stand out to an employer by contributing to the local community, and for all to gain valuable new skills. Q&A
I love wearing my baby, but am not well-versed in all of the carrier types, can I still volunteer?
Yes! If you are interested in becoming an educator we will train you in the areas you need assistance on. We hold monthly in-person and online training sessions. We also have a volunteer Facebook Discussion group to help you get to know us and more about babywearing industry best practices.
I am not good in front of crowds, can I volunteer but not be an educator? 
Yes! We believe in people finding fulfillment in volunteering with us and want you to do something you love. We have many roles that don’t require public speaking including, but not limited to, front desk administrators, social media, and photography, just to name a few!
What are the benefits of volunteering with Austin Babywearing?
As a volunteer, you get all the benefits of membership PLUS the opportunity to be part of a really incredible group in the Austin area. Our volunteers come from a wide variety of back grounds, but share our deep passion for respect, kindness and inclusion and, of course babywearing! You also have the chance to volunteer with us at many neat Austin area expecting, baby and childrens events. Finally, we also have volunteer-only events for us to make things for the organization, workshops or just hanging out and chatting!
I would love to volunteer but have no childcare, can I bring my baby?
Yes! You will often see our volunteers wearing their children, or even other volunteer’s children while volunteering! As an all-volunteer organization dedicated to families, infants and children are welcome at our meetings, events and get-togethers. Please note, you are responsible for your child and know your child best, so plan ways to help them also have a successful event.
I work full time, can I still volunteer?
Of course! Many of our volunteers, work full time or part time jobs. Our main meeting in on a Saturday and we also have a variety of outreach events that we need volunteers for. Our volunteers also assist outside of meetings with helping on committees and answer questions in our Facebook Discussion group. We also have volunteer roles that do not require meeting attendance that will be almost entirely online.
I have heard I have to pay to volunteer, is that true?
You are required to become a support volunteer, which cost $10.00 annually in dues. These dues give you the same privileges as a member. If you are already a sustaining member of our chapter, your membership dues roll over into your volunteer dues.
