Blog-cation — the act of taking a vacation from your blog or when your blog-writing takes you to Tahiti.
Although we didn’t technically take a full-on vacation and no one went to Tahiti, this summer was a slow one for our beloved little blog. The reasons range from the obvious (summer is for being outside, yo) to the technical (we redid our website. Isn’t it awesome?!?!) to the personal (my first worn baby starts Kindergarten on Monday and we’ve been to the children’s hospital three times this summer — UGH!).
Regardless… the babywearing, out-reaching, seat-tucking, and carrier-renting did not stop!
And as an organization, we have had a VERY busy summer since we last left off. This summer we have:
Crushed our membership drive goal, added over 55 new members and raised over $1000! Thanks to all who wanted to become a member.
Added 18 members to our leadership team, almost doubling the number of leaders!
Then, we got them snazzy t-shirts.
Dominated community outreach with babywearing at MommyCon and The Great Cloth Diaper Change… on the same day. Yeah.
Hosted our very first wrap intensive workshop (and it won’t be the last)!
Celebrated a Babywearing Father’s Day with give-a-ways, a Babywearing 102 class on Manly-wearing, and treats for Dad-likes!
Raised over $70 through Amazon Smile
Enjoyed some Crawfish at our first-ever Babywearing Crawfish Boil! Yum Yum!
Our VPs and some members attended the International Babywearing Conference.
We even met a in-real-life corn ninja while we were there!
We raised over $200 by eating Pizza. Nom. Nom. Nom.
Had our first T-shirt (and bag) sale! Now, we can all look the part!
Raised $1000+ for teeny tiny worn babies in the NICU through our Healing Hugs program.
Added a whole other meeting and lending library to our area with the addition of our monthly New Braunfels meeting!
Oh, AND added over 70 carriers to our Lending Library.
The dog-days of summer, we had not, friends!! We were busy busy summer bees.
Except when you don’t, because sometimes you wont. Our blog just enjoyed a blog-cation.
But… all good things must come to an end and school starts on Monday. Be ready for our blog to have to pay the piper! Lots of exciting stuff coming soon, and I don’t just mean pumpkin-flavored food, yall.
In the meantime, please enjoy the beautiful worn babies of summer vacation! THIS is what it is all about, after all!
